Degussa’s new production plant in Mobile, AL is now fully operational, increasing its production capacity for aminosilanes. The new facility also marks the first production of Degussa’s Dynasylan Ameo (AMEO-P) and AMEO-T aminosilanes in the NAFTA region. Completed in August, the new facility also doubles the production capacity for the company’s Silvento silanes, which are used in a variety of industries including coatings and adhesives.
In other news, Degussa Engineered Carbons (DEC) will stop production of all rubber blacks at its Baytown, TX plant effective Dec. 31. Pigment black production at the plant will stop early in the first quarter of 2003. The site will continue to serve as a distribution facility for DEC, and the company said production could restart if business conditions warrant. The closure will result in the loss of approximately 65 positions at the plant.
